Katzenjammer are up for a special treat this Monday, when they are to serve (and possibly protect) as intermission entertainment at Battle Of The Badges, a competition to select the best NYPD band.
Eight police bands are going head to head at The Gramercy Theatre, competing for a chance to open for a national recording act at a Live Nation show later in the year.
NYPD Officers Compete For Major Music Break In Battle Of The Finest Event
NEW YORK – JUNE 2, 2009 – Live Nation announces the next event in its
Battle Of The Badges series, held at The Gramercy Theatre on June 15,
2009. The New York City Police Department is next in line to compete,
after the great success of the FDNY’s Battle of The Bravest held in
March. New York City’s finest are gearing up to compete for the title
of greatest NYPD band, and the chance to open for a national recording
artist at a Live Nation show later this year. Live Nation reviewed countless submissions to find eight of the most
diverse and impressive unsigned bands made up of at least one NYPD
member. The bands chosen will meet for one intense competition where
only one will emerge as the winner. Participating bands include:· Clubbin’ Eddie (75 PCT & PBA)
· The Bel Airs (PBMN & SBA)
· Rattlin Hum (SBA & CEA)
· Sweet As Ether – Manhattan Gang (DEA, PBA, & SBA)
· Voxhound (20 PCT & PBA)
· Buck Pryor (23 PCT & PBA)
· Tiger Uppercut (83 PCT & PBA)
Celebrity judges include Marky Ramone, Q104.3 DJ Maria Milito and A&R
execs from major labels including IDJ, Atlantic, RCA, Roadrunner,
Columbia and Epic. The night will also feature a special performance
by the NYPD Drum Line. All proceeds from the Battle Of The Finest
will benefit NYPD Widow’s & Children’s Fund

I love Tiger Uppercut for no other reason than the fact that they’re named after Street Fighter.
